Moving into a series with about one,000 episodes is daunting, but A single Piece is worthwhile. It's not regarded the greatest anime of all time for almost nothing. One Piece gives many of the most intricate, advanced entire world-setting up and very best storytelling in anime.
2021 update: I have been to the fence about deleting this because it's so badly written, more info I had been seventeen at time of writing instead of a local speaker, and my viewpoint on one piece and anime generally speaking has adjusted drastically for the even worse.
